5 Tips on How to Celebrate Easter while Social Distancing During Covid 19

1. Change your expectations.

This Easter is going to be different. Prepare your mind for this and accept the emotions that might come with this. It’s okay to grieve the loss of normal. It’s also okay to still find pockets of joy while there is suffering going on. Allow yourself to feel love and gratefulness.

2. If you’re working from home, still try to take some time off.

Maybe you’ve been juggling trying to homeschool your kids, working from home and learning how to cook–it’s time to take a break! If you used to work at another physical location and now your work is all over the house, then have at least one room that is cleared of your work and available to relax in!

3. If you’re interested, you can watch a service online.

There are a lot of churches that are offering live streaming or prerecorded services for you to watch. I’m a personal fan of Hillsongs Church.

4. Get creative!

Download a colouring page that features some Easter fun. Decorate cookies or easter eggs! Or be like these creative families and do some rock paintings or decorate your front door so that all the neighbours can smile!

5. Finally, connect with family and friends online.

A fun way to do this is to play games!  The Houseparty app has games that you can play while still seeing each other’s faces. With a few other apps, you can get creative and zoom or facetime at the same time as playing!

Here are a few options available online:
-Host a Netflix watch party. (This is where you can watch the same movie/show at the exact same time with a link!)
-Play a Family Feud game and zoom with your friend’s group! (Use TriviaMaker)
Play Psych (From the creator of Heads Up! Outwit your friends!)
-Play Jackbox games over the internet with family. (Pictured on the left)
-Play Quick Draw within the Houseparty app. (Pictured on the right)
